Fourteen-year-olds involved in Derry racist attack – 8 July

“A police spokesman said the victims were walking through Waterloo Place when a group of up to 20 people, believed to be aged 14 to 18, began following them and shouting racial abuse. He said ‘As the two men continued walking, one of them was assaulted. Later in Sackville Street a female member of this group assaulted this male again. Both men were very badly shaken by their ordeal.’

An 18-year-old man was arrested at Waterloo Place just before midnight. He was questioned and later released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.”
